Marching To Mars Exits Top 100 July 4, 1997 - After making a promising debut at #18 on the Billboard album chart 6 weeks ago, Sammy Hagar's Marching To Mars this week made a quick exit from the Billboard Top 100. The album was at #97 on the chart last week, this week it is sitting at #126. Hagar Tour DatesJuly 6, 1997 - Sammy Hagar's solo tour hits the Andrew Jackson Hall in Nashville, TN tonight. Dave Tour?July 14, 1997 - Speculation is rife that David Lee Roth is forming a new band to tour behind his upcoming Greatest Hits album. I've heard at least one Van Halen tribute band guitarist has been asked to submit a tape of original material to Dave's office. BOV1 Still Selling WellJuly 17, 1997 - Van Halen's Best Of, Volume One has just topped 3.5 million sales worldwide. So much for the much publicised Internet "boycott".... Full sales details for every Van Halen album are at www.van-halen.com. Slawterhouse is claiming that BOV1 has only sold 1.75 million copies. This is untrue. US sales of the album are currently at 1.98 million. Worldwide, the album has sold 3.5 million copies. MTV NewsJuly 28, 1997 - MTV News is reporting that the new Van Halen album, titled 3, is tentatively scheduled for release on October 14. |

New EVH Book
July 9, 1997 - Hal Leonard will soon be publishing a new book on Edward Van Halen, containing all his interviews with Guitar World magazine over the years. Titled Guitar World Presents Van Halen, the 208 page book will retail for $14.95. No word yet on a release date. Another great book to check out is 1984: The Ultimate Van Halen Trivia Book by Lucas Aykroyd. It contains 1,984 Van Halen related trivia questions, and can be purchased via the Internet by following the above link.

July 18, 1997 - Here are some more details on Dave's autobiography, courtesy of Brad Starks via the VHML:
Title: Crazy From the Heat July 10, 1997 - It looks more and more likely that fans of Van Halen and David Lee Roth will see their favourite artists in print before they hear their latest musical efforts. MTV News is reporting that Dave is preparing a media blitz to promote his autobiography and accompanying spoken-word album titled Crazy From The Heat, with his handlers approaching everyone from CNN's Larry King to David Letterman. Roth was in Florida during May recording the spoken word album under the supervision of friend Henry Rollins, who released his own highly acclaimed album last year. As for Dave's upcoming Greatest Hits album Yankee Best, according to MTV's sources at Warner Bros the album is unlikely to be released in the USA before the end of the year. Yankee Best is due for Japanese release on July 25.
