VH Tribute Album August 1, 1997 - A Van Halen tribute album is on the way. Titled Everybody Wants Some, the album will feature several Boston-based bands (Gary Cherone's home town) including Elbow, Fuzzy and Captain Rock. More details, including a track listing can be found at the Allstar News site. The album is due to be released on October 7. Album Update
August 1, 1997 - It now looks like Van Halen's new album, titled 3, Van Halen III or Mach III, depending on who you listen to, may now be released in January or February next year. In other news, Edward Van Halen still hasn't had his hip operation, but sources say he's planning on having it real soon now.
Dave Update 
August 15, 1997 - October 10 sees David Lee Roth celebrating his 44th birthday with the release of his new single, Don't Piss Me Off to radio stations across North America. Dave's busy month will continue on October 23 when his autobiography, Crazy From The Heat hits the book stores, followed by the release of his greatest hits album, now titled The Best. No word yet on whether Dave will tour to support the new album.
Australian Tour August 16, 1997 - Van Halen have announced their plans to finally tour Australia!!! According to the Official Van Halen Web Site, the boys will start their 1998 World Tour down under. This is great news for long-time Australian fans of the band whose only taste of live Van Halen came via David Lee Roth's Skyscraper tour in 1988.
Guitar World Presents August 30, 1997 - As mentioned here last month, Hal Leonard Publishing has released a new book titled Guitar World Presents: Van Halen. The 208 page book contains all of Edward Van Halen's interviews with Guitar World magazine over the years, and retails for $14.95
