Wolfgang Van Halen says the classic Eddie Van Halen tone can be heard on the upcoming Mammoth WVH album.
During a recent interview with Guitar Interactive Magazine, Wolfgang revealed that he used his father’s original Frankenstrat guitar on the track “Take A Bow” from the forthcoming album Mammoth II due out August 4th. For added classic Van Halen effect, he added a few more treasures from VH past.
“[The song has] not just the guitar but also the original Marshall head that he used for the original Van Halen albums and one of the original [cabinets],” said Wolfgang. “So it was basically everything he used for those original classic albums.
“And you can hear that on certain bends,” he continued. “It’s kinda crazy. There’s certain notes where it’s like, Wow, that literally sounds like Van Halen one! It’s crazy.”
Wolfgang used the Frankenstrat on his guitar solos for two tracks from the self-titled debut Mammoth WVH album – “Feel” and “Mammoth”.
