Eddie Van Halen’s son is in the process of writing a solo album!
That’s one of the more surprising things Eddie revealed during his hour-long interview at the Smithsonian National Museum Of American History in Washington, D.C. last week.
“Wait until you hear his record! This is not pop talking, this is REAL talk. It blew my mind,” Ed said.
When asked when the album might be released, Ed answered, “They just started, probably end of the year.”
Some fans think Ed might have been commenting on the second Tremonti record, but we’ve been told this has nothing to do with Tremonti. The second Tremonti record (still untitled) is set to be released this May.
If you’ve been following Wolf on Twitter or Instagram, you’ve been catching glimpses of him pounding away on the drums or hinting at what’s to come by showing photos of mixing boards and tape consoles. So we’re not too surprised to hear this news.
The main questions we have about Wolf’s project are these:
1) Could it possibly feature a guest appearance by Eddie Van Halen? Or his brother, Alex?
2) Since Wolf plays everything—bass, guitar, and drums—will he be playing ALL instruments on this album?
3) And the obvious—WHAT will this sound like?? We admit we are very curious to hear this!
There’s other questions we have, too—is this an INSTRUMENTAL album? Will Ed produce it? Any other guest stars?
When asked how Wolfgang has influenced and inspired him, Ed said,“Oh man, talk about fresh blood! I don’t even know how to put that into words. I mean, for one, what father wouldn’t want to play with his son, especially one who’s as talented as he is. He just fit in like a glove. It breathed a breath of fresh air into my life. I was actually going through a pretty rough time when he joined the band. I was still drinking at the time, and I got sober during that first tour. I was so nervous. Every time I looked at my son, I’m going, ‘Okay, if my 16-year-old son can be kicking ass like that, I better suck it up here.’ He gave me the strength to be able to do that, and here we are.”
