Here’s a new Japanese TV special featuring three different Van Halen interviews. David Lee Roth and the Van Halen brothers sit back at David’s house and reminiscing about old times. Guitar World’s Editor-in-Chief Brad Tolinksi talks Van Halen. And new interviews with Ted Templeman are also interspersed.
The band delves into the origins of “Jump.” Dave explains the meaning of the lyrics: ‘Might as well jump. You might as well. Let’s not even have the verb. “Ah, you might as well!”‘ Eddie explains the impact of the band’s keyboard-dominated songs had on the music world. ‘That [keyboard] sound actually did not exist. We made that sound popular. Then all the synthesizers after “Jump” came out came with that sound [built] into [them.]’
(We previously featured a Japan TV special that had some of these interview clips, but this new special contains interview footage that we haven’t featured previously). It’s a must-see for a diehard fans. Enjoy!
