Sammy Hagar sat down with Dan Rather to discuss his successful career in rock ‘n’ roll and his life outside of music. The 90-minute interview (filmed February 10th) premieres this coming Tuesday, February 23rd at 8PM Eastern on Dan Rather’s AXS TV’s The Big Interview. Set your DVRs!
In the 3-minute sneak peak video above, Sammy compares the success of his solo career to Van Halen’s success before he joined the band.
When asked if he felt pressure to succeed David Lee Roth, Hagar says, “No. I didn’t feel pressure. [Laughs]. I didn’t.”
Sammy Hagar explains, “At the time, as a solo artist, I was really as big as Van Halen. At that time, I was selling out double nights everywhere in the country. They were doing about the same. We both… they had really hit that real big one with the song ‘Jump.’ They finally had their big…you know…not a number one album, but they had their top 10…really kinda broke ’em into a different league of record sales. But everything else to us was kind of on the same level for a few years before that.”
We can’t wait to see what else he reveals in the full interview! Tune in Tuesday, February 23rd at 8PM Eastern on Dan Rather’s AXS TV’s The Big Interview.
