Two weeks ago, Michael Anthony publicly shared the tragic news that he lost his newborn grandson from heart complications.
Michael announced that he will be taking part in the “Walk L.A.” in June for Children’s Hospital L.A. with his family, in order to support the hospital that did so much for his grandson, and continues to serve the health needs of many other children.
As fans expressed their deepest condolences to Michael and his family, some of them even donated to the cause.
Today, we happened to check out the website that Michael set up to see how the donations are going, and we noticed a familiar name at the top of the donor honor list. We’re thrilled to see that David Lee Roth himself has donated $10,000 to Michael’s cause. Well done, Dave! Thanks for joining Team Rex and the Heart Beaters. (NOTE to any doubters: We did indeed receive official confirmation that the donation was from David Lee Roth, himself).
Look at all the donors here tonight!
David’s kind act makes us recall when, just a few years ago, Dave paid an eloquent compliment to Michael Anthony during an interview with Rolling Stone, describing Van Halen’s ex-bassist’s voice as “One of the greatest high tenor voices ever.” (Read the full quote here). Michael later said he was flattered by the compliments.
It’s wonderful to see Dave contribute to something very special to Michael’s cause.
Here’s a link to Michael’s webpage for the walk. His team is called “Rex and the Heart Beaters.” It’s a great cause to donate to.
