Some fans are familiar with the short clip of bootleg footage from Van Halen’s 1979 “CaliFFornia World Music Festival” performance, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It’s rarely seen, blurry, and even worse, has has no sound. (Probably recorded on an 8mm camcorder with no sound capability).
Well, VHND regular, Chris Bennett, has attempted to make this footage more watchable, by syncing the silent footage with a bootleg audio recording from the same performance. “It’s far from perfect,” he says, “but much more enjoyable.” We agree. Watch it below.
(Our photo above is from this performance, but unfortunately, the actual video below is nowhere near as clear. But as we say about the scarcity of old Van Halen footage, beggars can’t be choosers).
