Wolfgang Van Halen and Sammy Hagar took part in the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies Saturday night (10/19) in Cleveland and a few videos of their performances have surfaced.
Wolfgang joined Chad Smith, Robert Trujillo, Andrew Watt, and Maynard James Keenan for a performance of “Crazy Train” . Rolling Stone’s Andy Greene wrote: “The Randy Rhoads parts were nailed to perfection by Wolfgang, earning a massive ovation from the crowd as Ozzy looked on with approval from his bat throne.”
Hagar did the honors of inducting Foreigner into the Rock Hall, stating the many reasons they deserve to be in: “So we all have asked ourselves, all us musicians out there, we’ve asked ourselves many times, what’s the criteria? How do you get into the Hall of Fame? What do you need to do? What do you have to have done and, you know, you think about it, there should be some rules. You got to have at least one big hit, right? One big hit song, right? Well Foreigner has had nine mega hits in the top 100 in Billboard. Not one, nine, okay? Boom. Qualified.
“Number two, you should have, like, a gold record, a platinum record, you know, a million selling record, I think that would do,” Hagar continued. “Well here comes Foreigner with 80 million records sold, six top 10 albums, including Foreigner 4, my favorite album of theirs, which spent 10 weeks at number one, okay?Qualified, right?”
Afterwards, Hagar joined Chad Smith, Slash, Demi Lovato, and Foreigner’s current touring band to perform “Hot Blooded”.
